Got a 4 yr old male Walker. It's been about 5 months since he's hunted and we took him out tonight and he didn't tree anything. Really only got about 80 yards out from us and kept coming back. He's treed plenty before, never had this problem out of him. Any suggestions on what to do? Do I need to take him out with some other dogs, cage a coon?
That dog doesn't need a cage coon hunt him in a spot you know there's coons my female didn't hunt for a year and she did the same thing after the 3rd time she nailed 3 of them they don't forget just get rusty

I have a 10 yr old female that has be hunted very little over the last 3 years..We took her out tonight and she didnt miss a beat.Still the treeing machine she always was...Dogs can be layed up for years. But once hunted again might look bad a few nights..All dogs even world champions have there bad nights. The better the dog is chances are the bad nights will not be as many...Hunt the dog about 20 times and see what hes doing then....

That hound just might not have been feelin' good. Cool weather he might, as people do, not drink enough water because they don't feel as thirsty. I'd mix his food real thin with water a few hours before hunting.
