got an english. ran him the other nite. found a pond and run around it for bout an hour raisin cane any body have an idea what he is doing

Might be after beaver or muskrats or maybe a mink. I would suggest sending dog onwards when it gets hung up like that.

Pond is a watering hole for all the critters around. Young hound will usually investigate all the combined scents. Good part was not opening. Send him on. More you hang around more he's going to fool around.

Mine was doing the same thing on a creek with a beaver, it followed us almost a mile smacking it's tail. My dog finally started to ignore it and eventually treed me a coon.

Mine will do that when there's a good bit of activity around the pond. She goes back and forth from pond to trees til she figures out where the coon went to stay. Some dogs just stand on their head when there's lots of scent all over a small area.

yeah. the dog is not the best or worst. there were coon tracks everywhere down here in fl we have been real dry for a long time then this year was the year of the frog strangler it jist kept rsinin there is water in placed where it aint been since i was a kid. and the coons are using it to there sdvantage
