Does she have the meat still? She could just be running straight line till she hits a track instead of making rounds

Im not sure if she had the meat or not, when i got close to her she left the tree and came to me which is weird too. I leashed her up and left cuz i wasnt sure whos ground i was on. Like i said she just started doin this the last couple times ive hunted her

My blue dog will leave the tree once we get 30 yards or so then go back to it

you said thats shes treeing coon behind you?when i use to hunt off a 4 wheeler i would ride my dog on the back of it for about a mile before i turned her loose,if she winded a coon going in, she would go nearly a mile were she winded the coon and tree from were i turned her loose.you also said that she would go a mile in 5 mintues then tree?she just might know where the coon is.other then that i aint got a clue why shes doing that.

Skeets i never thought of that you might be right. Im not sure how long exactly it takes her to get a mile out but it dont seem to take her long. And i dont think shes running deer either, i seen her run right next to a bedded buck and when he stood up she turned around but then kept hunting so i dont know

next time see if you can see your dog winding when your going in to hunt.thats how i figrued out why my dog went back almost a mile from where we came in at to tree.if she dosent smell a coon she will hunt in the direction i shine my light. good luck with him.

Just a thought - when an older dog who is consistently doing one thing and then changes I like to get them tested for ehlrichia. It makes dogs do some strange things.
