and for all the ones that take more than 2 to 3 coons out a night... It must be nice to live in nothing but corn fields and stuff . come on out here to WV in the reel woods where there is none of this corn field and feeder bucket bullsh!t and i bet when you get here your dogs will look mentaly retarted . no one can call there ound a good dog if they dont have to actually hunt for the coon. h3ll i can take my mother in laws poodle out there and tree a coon with it there are so many. i hate it when people say"OH MY DOGS THE BEST" and BLAH BLAH BLAH. the day u hunt your dogs in the big boys woods instead of your kinder garden corn fields is the day you can say u have i good dog. and further more people that do have SOME SENSE about them CAN hunt the SAME SPOT EVERY NIGHT because they are smart enough not to shoot every coon they see. they shoot one out and then tree all kinds and then the next night there is still more to shoot out.

The problem is walker dogs

Every once in awhile we'll run across what we call a Christmas tree, 7-8 coons in one tree. Normally it's singles or doubles. We have no limits what so ever on coons, season runs from Sept. 1 to the end of February.

Made 22 trees in one night. All had coons. Not sure how many total coons. It was in Ohio. We hunted 7 or 8 different dogs. Dark till daylight. Awesome night!

We kill 10 plus usually the first few nights of season but by the end we are killing 2 or 3. But I have heard that you can kill 75% of the population and they will still be fine. But we hunt little wood lots surrounded by corn fields in north western indiana.

my cousin and I run our hounds together. We hunt pa and we average at 1-3 a night. Were both 18 and in school. Our average run is 500-600 yards and go up over 1000-2000 yards and our longest at 2 miles with meat. our hounds are pretty accurate. but its so hard terrain to hunt its vertical and essentially rock climbing with jaggers and big ravines and hollows to get twisted around in. we always end up in a tshirt because were drenched in sweat and were both in shape haha. Id love to go to iowa and hunt. i feel like a average dog in pa would be and above average dog there. our dogs work their a$$ off every tree. We only kill the medium to large ones.

I hunt Iowa and ILLINOIS, and our coon population is pretty decent. I usually hunt 2- 4 hours, and on an average night we tree 3-5 coon. I have treed 10 singles(Every single tree had 1 coon, no circle or slick trees) in a few hours with one Redbone(she was a coon treeing machine!), and with a couple hounds going we treed 12. We had the coons skinned and out of the timber before 1 a.m. when it got so foggy I could hardly spot the last coon to shoot it out. We could have treed 20 that night im sure. Now, in the summer, I have treed 9 in the same tree- a mulberry tree full of kitten coon:)

I dont shoot every one out, But I shoot enough that my hounds get plenty of fur in their mouths. If I lived in the south where coon population is low, I would be much more conservative with coon I shoot, but up here, if we dont thin the population, diseases spreads fast.

Image We shot 12 but forgot 2 hides a mile back in the timber. Everyone thought someone else had the other 2 lol and I didnt want to walk that far in the fog to find them

I'm not saying that anyone is lying because I have went to NW OHIO and went hunting with dogs that were for sale and seen as many as 16 in just a few hours but most of them were seen not by the dogs treeing them but by just spotlighting the tree lines around the cornfields if u would like to know weather u have a good coon dog or that u are a coon hunter take your dog or dogs to the mountains of central WV, no 4 wheelers no road hunting and if u make 3 or 4 trees in one night I would say that u probably have a good dog and that u are real coon hunter
