I got a bright eyes blaster coon light from a friend and I had a friend try and charge it and it wouldn't work any reason why?

i got a bright eyes -blaster- coon light from a buddy of mine and i hooked it up to the charger and turned the rehostat switch and nothing happened but when i turn the adjustment knob on the 5100 head it comes on. what in the world?? has anybody ever seen this in a light???

idk i just did it again and it comes on when i move the reflecter in the 5100 head
