My pup was sniffing around where something had been on a creek bank and didn't open but growled a couple times. Any idea what it might have been?

I had a male dog that didn't see good he growled at everything including me! If he wasn't barking and wasn't growling he was prolly sleeping

did he keep hunting or did he kind of keep behind you... because if my dog smells a coyote he willl act like he is scared and wont go out very far

He doesn't really get out far anyway but yea he acted a little wary.
