ive been hearing that a can of tua will work .. any info on this?

I use canned cat food that is tune/fish flavored. Make sure to have that trap off the ground!!! Before I figured that out I was catching skunk after skunk. Skunks don't climb. My traps are about 1.5 feet off the ground and set real sturdy so the coon doesn't flip the trap when he tries to climb in. I put a little step there to help. I also have my traps completely covered with brush (no sticks anywhere near the door). Due to the skunks I don't let the dog find the trap before I do...

I use a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich. just tried it one time and it works great. Don't have to worry about skunks, cats, ect....

Redtick_97, This would be a good time to take him walking in the woods in the day time. Some would disagree, but I think letting them mess with squirrel tracks is okay. At this stage, you’re not hunting, your getting him used to the woods. If he’s getting out away from you a little, you might take him out alone half hour before dark and just hang around, let it get dark on him so he’ll get used to it. Then bring him home. Don’t play with him when your out in the woods. Ignore him so he’ll get bored with you and explore more. If he’s too afraid of the first caged coon, call it off, don’t pressure him. Wait a month and try again. If you don’t have the Wick book, pm me your address and and I’ll send you one.
