[quote="toe cutter"]i have never seen a $500 chicken. but i would break the dog the same way i break dogs off grinners, skunks, pheasants or whatever. i beat the dog with the varmit.i only use a shock collar for deer, and then its just to get them stopped IF i can't catch them red handed on the deer track.

 Hey TC, when you beat a dog with a skunk. Witch end do you hold and witch end do you hit the dog with. That sounds like it could get you kicked out of the house for a while. I would have to sleep in the barn and I don't have a barn. No, I'm just funen. You know I use the electric.
I do have a question though. If you shock off deer with sucess. Why don't you use it for the other trash. I like to start with a young dog so I can do it up close and personal while they are young and never got away with any of it. I dumped mine out in front of deer night before last and was ready to fry them. Didn't show any interest though. My pup did mess with a diller. He crept up to it and I gave him one quick pop of elec. and he went around them the rest of the night.

shock collars are just dandy in the right hands on some things, but i don't think they are the cure all alot of people think they are.bringing a pup from a pup to a finished coon dog takes time and work, if shocking them to make them lead, load, walk on a leash ,go hunting, stay treed, not chew, not jump and everything else works for you and is easier, then by all means, simmer, sizzle or fry it. i have a super nice shocker with all the bells and whistles, but i don't want an electric dog,. ............TC

Didn't mean to make you mad TC I know we do things differant. Mine don't go to the woods with out there e-collars till I have a lot of confidence in them. I think you are dead on about keeping them clean and only hunting them with clean dogs for the first couple years of there life. Or when ever you think it is safe to try them with something ify. I was just wondering if you had luck with the e-collar on deer why you didn't use it for other things. You answered my question. The skunk thing is just funny if you think about how that could come out. If it works though it works.
I don't mean to imply that you are not as good of trainer as I am. I am sure you are. I have gotten lazy since the e-collar has been advanced. I didn't use the old burn them up things they had when they first came out but I use the ones with the rehostat switch a lot. They never go far with out one till they are in the habbit of minding.
For deer I try to dump them out on top of them. So I know for sure what they are doing and they know I know. Take care TC
and like I said. I didn't mean no disrespect.

get a bird, take a wire and a stake and a tire. put the metal stake in the middle of the tires, and make the wire long enough that the chicken can only be on the tire, and run a powersoure to that stake, a real heavy powersource lol. that way the chicken is alive all the way till the dog gets to it then the dog touches it it kills the chicken and the dog wont touch another bird again, lol
