110's are certainly accurate that is for sure. you get alot of gun for the money. They've also improved their looks quite a bit in recent years. They used to be plug ugly, especially the 99's. I always call the 99 a 2x4 with a barrel stuck on it.

As the late well known gun writer Jack O"Connor stated in several pages of his books, take a .270 Win. 30-06 Spingfield or a 7mm Rem. Mag. with the right bullets you can take any kind of animal in North America !

Get you a .308,best deer rifle on the market hands down, nothing wrong with a .270 either but i like the .308 ive seen it do some serious knock down on a deer, don't buy a 30-06 to slow and drops to fast

if you're woods hunting like here in p.a., don't worry about the 200 or 300 yard crap,i've killed more deer than most, and rarely shoot more than a hundred yards. a rem 700, or mod 7, adl, bdl or cdl in .260,or 7mm-08 is all you'll ever need. for bears step up to 30-06 for an all around. top it off with a 3-9x40 simmons and you're ready to roll.

7mm shortmag,, modle 7 action 1.5 -5 loepold, I change the barrel and It becomes a 243 for yote and ground hogs. 1 gun with two barrels will cover any hunting that I will ever do in north america. bullet is more important tan caliberin my opinion!!

I've tried 30-30, 35rem, 35whelan, 243, 260, 7-08, 308, 280, 30-06, 450,.223, 45colt, and 44mag. it comes down to this, shoot what you can comfortably shoot well. there are no degrees of dead. if you can place that bullet where you need to it doesn't matter what you're shooting. there is no BEST deer rifle. you could kill an elephant with a 22lr.

For out west i have a 25-06 with a 100g blistic tip a well placed shot is all you need. For hog bear deer hunting in the SE i got a new remington R-25 in 308 you can get all kinds of different loads for a 308. the bushnell elite 3200 scopes are as tough as a nail for under $200 you can not go wrong with one. But what ever you can afford to buy and shoot.

I know I will probably draw alot of argument, but I wouldn't use anything bigger than a 25-06. I shot a nice whitetail in the front shoulder coming tward me last year with a 270 and 3/4 of the deer was unedible. The shot was 160yds away with 130gr nosler part. It looked like it was hit by a train. All Bloody.
I shot a big doe this year with .223 @ 215 yds in the front shoulder with 60gr Nosler part and it fell in its tracks and only messed up the shoulder I hit and turned the lungs to mush. Some states require at least .243 caliber but on the lighter calibers, you waste less meat!!!
I am buying a 25-06 and I will shoot 75gr Nosler part bullets. From what I have read, It is the ultimate deer rifle without the overkill!

I use a 25-06 when im hunting in a place were I would need a long shot. I use a 30-30 in the woods.. I think alot of it has to do with where your hunting.. a smaller lead will get thrown off easier by a twig.. so you obviously wouldn't hunt with something real small in the woods unless it was a clear shot in the woods.. but if there was under brush and bushes every where then the bigger lead is more suitable.. but if its open fields and theres a long shot then you need the smaller lead.. if your curious as to what gun does what you can go to

www.remington.com and it shows exactly what types of guns do what..

I like the 7mm and 25-06 best for long shots and in bushes any type of big lead gun that dosn't kick to bad.. such as 30-30, 308, britsh 303 <--favorite one.. things in that nature
