Do you have to use a rifled choke for sabot slugs? I've heard of people shooting sabot slugs with mod. chokes on their shotgun, and was wondering if that COULD mess up your choke?

you can shoot a sabot out of a smoth bore shot gun if you want i guess, but i wouldnt. it will only hurt your accuray and your pocket book. the point of a sabot is to be shot through a rifled barrel to make it spin(like a rifle cartridge) exact opisite principle with a rifled slug through a smoth bore. if i shoot sabots its only through my rifled barrel. i have even tried sabots with a rifled choke tub with bad success. also along the same lines. dont shoot a rifled slug out of a rifled barrel. the rifleing on the barrel will not match up the rifleing on the bullet which means the bullet will fight the barrel all the way out making your shots not consistant. we did some extensive experiments with all of these two springs ago for whitetail magizene.
i hope this helps

He is absolutely right. Only shoot saboted slugs out of a rifled barrel and only shoot rifled slugs out of a smooth bore with no more than a Mod choke, Imp Cyl or cyl which is best
