Can a .410 slug really kill a deer with one shot?

Technically yes, but i wouldnt reccomend it as only in an extreme incident (prolly being a shot to the head) would it drop a deer and i definently dont suggest a head shot. And another reason being its not going to leave to big of a hole for bleed out and the deer would prolly be pretty hard to track.

Depends on where you hit it and how far out. I wouldn't recommend it, though. Stick with a good 12 gauge sabot or a .270 or better your odds would go up from there.

Several years ago my nephew shot a deer with a single shot 410 and the deer stood there while he reloaded and just as he was going to take his second shot the deer fell over. It was a heart shot.

I SAW A GUY DRAGGING A DEER ONE DAY OUT OF THE WOODS SO I GAVE HIM A HAND. AFTER WE GOT IT LOADED ON THE TRUCK HE TOLD ME THE WHOLE STORY ON HOW HE GOT THE BRUISER. HE WAS BIRD HUNTING WITH HIS 4/10 AND THE DEER JUMPED UP INFRONT OF HIM 20 YARDS AWAY. HE TOOK OUT THE BIRDSHOT THAT WAS IN THE GUN AND LOADED A SLUG AND SHOT HIM IN THE LUNGS. THE DEER WENT 50 YARDS AND DROPPED STONE DEAD. WE TOOK HIM TO THE TAGGING STATION AND WEIGHED HIM. 285LBS DRESSED AND WAS A PERFECT 12 PT. IT WAS THE BIGGEST DEER I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE TO THIS DAY. MY DAD HAD BEEN HUNTING THAT DEER FOR 4 YEARS AND THIS GUY SHOT HIM WITH A 4/10. WASN'T HE RIPPED!!!! :D

410 will work just fine. its no different than shootin it with anyother small cartridge..like 223/s 22-250... yes u have to have a good shot..but anybody out there shootin at deer should be shootin to kill....i wouldnt recomend useing one more to the range factor...in those huntin shows where young kids hunt they shoot 410s and drop there deer. i would prctice alot and use a good slug if iwas gonna use one....we can use rifles here so i dont see many people with shotguns...if u beleive in your cartridge and ability u will have no problem harvesting a whitetail. personally ill stick with 7mm mag and 308....i like bein able to reach out and touch one if i have too.

It has to be about the same as a 30/30. How many grains is a 410 slug what is the difference between this and a arrow out of a bow? I would not be afraid to use one to bad they are Illeagle in WI.

yeah they are illeagle here also. the cpo i talked to about it said the reason they are banned isnt because of nockdown power, but that its almost like shooting a rifle, meaning it goes way to far for illinois to deam safe for dear season..

410s are a great youth gun but personally i wouldnt buy one for deer hunting if you are thinking of a gun for a kid maybe think about a 20 gauge
