In Indiana your not allowed to hunt with rifles(.223+) But your allowwd to hunt with pistols(.44 mag.) So what if you had a rifle in .44 mag? Would you be allowed to use it?

I believe you are talking about deer, In our state (IN) taking a deer with any rifle is illegal. You can use bow (must have atleast 35 lb draw with a broadhead arrow), shotgun ( in gauge of .410, 20, 16, 12, or 10 with slugs or saboted bullets), muzzleloader ( loaded with a single bullet .357 or larger) or a pistol with a barrel atleast four inches long and must fire a .243 caliber bullet or larger. The bullet cartridge must be atleast 1.16" or larger not including bullet). That is almost a direct quote from the 2006-2007 Indiana hunting and trapping guide. So as far as using that type of rilfe no. The reason is a rifle bullet will carry further than in the pistol and there are not many safe places to hunt with a long range bullet in Indiana being it is rather flat and not many wide open spaces like out west.
