Rock is a coon dog....The cross was not planned it just happened....Im was told Rock is the only living pup in the litter..Or the only one born......Cross breeding has happened a lot in the past...Old Hardtime Speck (English dog) Was a Grand Nite Champion Walker .Changed to a reg English... Why they did it I dont know...LOL....Boyds little Joe was a english crossed with a bird dog.....Speck and joe were top dogs and reproduced very well.....Rock will be more to the liking of PKC hunters..Than UKC .......UKC says...The only true Full Blooded coon hound today is the Plott hound..........

Are any of you walker guys thinking of breeding to this dog. The pups mite look a nuff like a Walker to get papers. Why would a PKC person like this dog more than a UKC ?

They single registered Speck english because he was so ticked up that everyone thought he was already an English not Walker. He to my knowledge is the only hound to be dual grand in two different breeds.

About Rock being the only one living I think there was a pretty good size litter but they got hit by cars or died before they were weaned.

Speck was aFinley River bred walker. He was single registered as an english because the pups he was throwing were black and white with a lot of ticks. This is the day that the walker people liked and would only get "clean "looking walker dogs. This is the story that I got. Today the walker people dont seem to mind this type, ie. Whitey dogs with the cauliflower ears, ticks, and black and white, alot of the clover dogs look this way. Once again thank you walker people for allowing us the privledge of having Speck. lol. All your dis liked colored dogs we will welcome if they impact the breed like speck lol.
I heard that little Joe was the result of a cross between 2 dogs that were really uknown as far as breed. They were both heavily ticked and very gamey. Just work out. Again this is the stories that I heard.

I think if someone else owned Rock, nobody would have ever heard of this reg. B&T. Unless it was called what it is; a cross breed.

The reason he is registered black and tan with PKC and not cross breed with PKC is because he was registered the year before PKC had the cross breed catagory. That is what Clay and Tam Young said. Tennesse Hardrocks Owners

I judged a cast a few years ago at Autumn Oaks .Eugene Boyd was in the cast hes still hunting this line of dogs .He was hunting a great grand son of joe I cant remember the dogs name....He told me Joe was a english crossed with a bird dog.Thats where the funny color nose came from...LOL..... Most PKC hunters just are not as picky about breeding as UKC hunters.............PKC hunters care more about money won in the hunts than a dogs breeding.......

Was Hardrock being bred to B&T's or to Walkers? Didnt Hardrock get hit by a car or something and pass away? I give him credit from what I heard he was a hell of a coon dog.

Hard Rock has bred to other B&T's. He is an SS sire. As far as I know he's still alive and winnning money. He recently won the showcase in Feb.

I drew him out in the late round of the pkc world this year. You guys can say what you want as far as his breeding and abilities. But... I will gaurantee you one thing, he is most likely 10 fold better than what you are packing. He is a good strike, fast tracking, slobber mouth tree dog that sure has a great horn. If you think your dog is treed while you are shining his tree you had better tree your dog before you get by his or you definetly won't hear your own treed.
