Looking for any information about these lines. Most of the posts I was able to find had general info, dating nearly 2 years old. I have been trying to locate a large size Black and Tan (essentially the AKC standard). From what I've been able to find Maple Hill and Kuester seem to be the closest to what I want ("old-fashioned black and tan" - Large size, big ears, dark coat). There seems to be limited access to these lines or information on them. Specifically has anyone used these dogs for big game hunting (bear, bobcat, etc.?)? Additionally, who works with these lines? Any input/advice/info would be greatly appreciated. Would like to have a black and tan within the next year.

Thank you,
Eric

Ken's hounds aren't considered "old fashion." They are sharp and houndy looking, but they do hunt. I searched several years back, but everything I found either was from a non-hunting pedigree, or they wanted an arm and a leg for them. Too many of them have been bred just for the looks, with no regard to hunting ability. If you want a really houndy looking black and tan with the hunting ability, I would contact Ken Duncan or Gene Hicks.
