I really like the pepper bloodlines. I have a son of Peel's Burning Pepper.
Burning Pepper is from the cross of Stepp's Little Pepper and Nighty Night Moonlight Kate. Pepper's siblings include The Red Rocker, Rocky Top Jet. Moonlight Pepper Ann and several other good dogs.
My dogs dam is a sister to Timber Chopper Cyrus, from the Timber Chopper line in Virginia where they are well known for their abilty to tree coon and bear.

The dog I have now was a natural. He ran and treed his 1st night out at 6 months old. He treed his 1st coon by himself at 8 months. He made Night Ch at 14 months and Grand Nite at 24 months. He is extremely intelligent. He is a super fast track dog and tree dog. Well over 100 bpm.
Here is his pedigree, all hunting dogs.NO SHOW dogs.

Naming the "best" is a pretty subjective exercise. There are several good lines, and the "best" is often a matter of personal preference. There have been several good lines mentioned so far. T-top is another good one. T-top goes back to Hoffmeister in most pedigrees I've seen. Nice dual purpose hounds. Some of the old school blood like Blakesley and Sierra is pretty tough to find these days, and when you do find it it's pretty diluted, but some fairly pure examples can be found if you look around hard enough. Razor Red (top hunt producer in Redbone history) has been mentioned several times in this thread. Right now we have a 2-week-old litter that's out of an Only In America and Triple Crown son. The dam is a granddaughter to Razor Red on top and Machine Gun Jack on the bottom. Should be nice pups.
