Not the same Vaughn dogs. Tim and Paul have the Mad Dog line.

Elbert Vaughn had some of the foundation stock of the Bluetick breed. Elbert Vaughn was from Paragould, Arkansas. Atleast that is where he lived when he was promoting Blue Bawler in 1963. Cant remember the year, but Mr Vaughn past away many years ago. He was promoting hounds in the 30's and 40's, so that gives you a idea of how long the Vaughn hounds have been around. He had hounds long before the bluetick breed seperated from the english breed and that was in 1946.

In regard to the Vaughn Line, If you get the real deal, they are hard to beat for being able to work hard tracks that most comp style dogs won't be able to find the meat :)

I'm surprised kenbev hasn't posted on this. Mr Ken Atkins and Mr ken Gregory. He and his kennel partner are trying to preserve and maintain the bloodline. Trying to breed the same way Elbert would've been breeding. They are extremely helpful and are very good honest men. These men have the real deal!!!!! I don't think you'll find a more consented blood then them.

My husband is Elbert Vaughn's grandson. Elbert died in 1984 of a heart attack. My husband has fond memories of visiting his grandfather's farm and playing with the hounds. He would be happy to answer any questions regarding his grandfather.
My daughter found this website. She was surprised to find that her great grandfather was such a notable person in the bluetick hound world.

I have the very first Full Cry Magazine Mr. Albert Vaughn placed a ad in and many more from then on throughout the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's. He was one of the founders of the Bluetick breed, but I have ads from Mr. Vaughn before the breed separated from the English Breed in 1946. I also have every BBOA Bluebook he placed a ad in. These old magazines and books have a lot of history of the fellow houndsmen before us.

I got onto the site looking for Elbert Vaughn for pictures and/or memories of him and my dad, Don Davis. I found daddy's picture along with Elbert in the group who met years ago to form Bluetick association. When I was little we went to Elbert and Sarah's place often and they treated me and my little brother like surrogate grandkids. We loved seeing not only the dogs but raccoons, sheep, chinchilla, and all kinds of animals. This would have been in the 1950's. My father is no longer with me and I would love to hear any memories someone may have of knowing him. He had Blueticks I am sure he got from Elbert with names like Fannie and Bugle Ann. Elbert gave me and my brother Beagle puppies with the stipulation that he got to name them so they were Rover and Snapper. That was the last dog I owned but still love seeing Beagles and Blueticks take me back to my days in Arkansas.
