I found something that I think will fit my order. Young, natural treeing, and the desire to do it alone.....
Thanks for the coments....

A Walker and a B&T cross? I've never heard of that cross being made.
Hope he turns out to be a great one for ya.

Good luck and happy hunting with your new hound !!! We have a female Walker that trees squirrels & coons and we really enjoy her. I know that two of her pups have inherited this trait and been treeing squirrels in the yard since about 4 months old. My friend has a black and tan x bluetick cross that also does very well on both. He was trained alongside her curs for squirrel and with hounds and one dual cur for coon. In response to all of the argument over the bird dog issue, if you look on pg. 90 of the 2009 December issue of Coonhound Bloodlines there is an article and picture of how pointer bird dogs were crossed into the St. Hubert hounds, foxhounds, and bloodhounds to produce today's tree hounds. I have personally never seen a pointing coondog but I have also never personally seen a WRLDNITECH hound, doesnt mean they dont exhist. I do, however, have a full blooded registered female Treeing Walker that is a NICE coondog that will retrieve dowels and bumpers out of the lake or in the yard alongside our lab all day long.... she is the first hound pictured below in my signature.

Thanks for the post Kayla. That's some good lookin hounds too. I think there's more hunters that start their hounds on squirrels and then switch them to coons than we know about. This little female I bought is going to work out real well, I hope. She's the first hound I've owned for quite some time. I've had curs for the last several years but they've just not worked for me. It's good to get a hound back in the kennel.

Thnx, I think they're perfect lol !! The last dog in my sig, Krazy, is the daughter of the squirrel/coondog we own Moko. Krazy messed with squirrels in the yard on her own before I moved her to running with our older dogs in the woods at nite on coon. Another of her littermates is actively being hunted on squirrel at 6 months old, they havent swapped her to coon yet. I have only hunted with curs on a few occassions, always with the friend I mentioned above, and although they are fair dogs and I think very pretty I am also just partial to the look and voice of a hound. I hope your new pup works out for you !! Does she look more like a B&T or a Walker ? My friend's hound looks just like a B&T but with some white on his chest & toes and within the white you can see the ticking from his Bluetick blood. These are some pics of our dual Walker, Moko, below. She treed this squirrel right in the front yard while she was on about day 52 of her pregnancy with her pups !! She could barely get up on the tree !!!!

This is her daughter Krazy treed on one at about 3 1/2 months old...

She had already been named Blaze when I bought her because of a thin line of white hair on her chest. Otherwise she's black with a little more tan than a pure B&T.
I'll try to post some pics tomorrow.

What is the Hammering Mike dog out of? My pup has a Hammering Earl on her top side....

Mike is outta Earl and a GRCH GRNITECH female named Peppermint Patty. Mike is throwing a ton of early starting natural tree dogs and I have heard that several of the pups started themselves on squirrel in the yard and then the owners moved them on to coon. Must be where your pup gets it from !!! What black & tan breeding does she have ?

This is Mike's full pedigree....

Her sire is Ol' Chubby. That's where the Earl dog comes in. Her dam is BTTB bred by a gyp named Midnight Coal. Both these lines have the old Setum Up Ace breeding. On a 5 gen. pedigree, there's some Voyles, Schott and Reef's lines plus the old Posted Land T.J.

I'm not really familar with Black and Tans but I have hunted with a few that came from the Set Em Up Ace breeding. Not sure how far back it was but they all seemed to have a bit of a ill streak but that could have just been those individual dogs or how they were trained. I know that bloodline is popular though. Be sure to get some pics of her up !!!!!

We adopted a crazy ol' bluetick from the pound. When we went out hunting, if he wasn't ready to go in, there was no getting him back to the vehicle. We'd leave a coat or a flannel, and sometimes he'd be there, sometimes we had to wait for a call from his microchip tag. One time, we got a call from a guy who was out squirrel hunting with his curs and ol' Rock was came in and joined in, coon all night, daylight meant he just switched game. Boy I wish we knew the backstory on him. He was a one-of-a-kind, ol' fashioned hound.

im not disagreeing with any one on here but i dont want my coon dog treeing anything but coons. if i take my dog out in the day like he hunts till he finds a coon thats been down or the freshest coon track he can find. ive been with people that have trained there dogs on squirells and broke them but on bad nite they still tree flying squirells when theres nothen else moveing and thats nerv racking to me. i believe u can train a dog as a pup to track and tree anything u want it to if u work with ur dog and get to know them. but once i get a dog and like it i keep it for life so i get to know my hounds.
