it really seems to me that there is a very large decline in the number of pleasure hunters out there.it 's seems to be very hard to find people that coon hunt just for the fun of the sport and the love of a dog. i sure would to like to start some kind of youth coon hunters club here in mid ga. if anybody is interested in helping or know anything about stuff like this please let me know. i think it would be great to get some younger kids involved in our sport.

I agree. We still hunt for pleasure and enjoy the sport and hanging on to dogs we like. We comp hunt our dogs only when they deserve it. I'm in NE Ga. and may be able to help with the youth also.

There are a lack of youth getting involved in the sport and tradition. But its also in part to some hunters not wanting kids to tag along. I've been with some that didn't want kids wifes etc. tagging along and that's why I don't hunt with them alot. My wife and son help feed, train, hunt and care for our hounds so if there not welcome I don't feel I am. Anyone wanting to tag along and don't mind getting there feet wet and long walks in the dark are more than welcome to tag along. I love this sport and especially the hounds. Not saying everyone I've met is like that but a few have been.

it is fadeing away. the lack of land to hunt is killing it here in texas. every one that owns land thinks they can get rich off of hunters.

not what it used to be.
