Hey guys. I've got an 11 month bloodhound/lab mix and I'm curious if he'd coon hunt. My uncle tells me it's pretty much up to genetics, either they got it or they don't, but I'd like to find out. Once when walking him, I saw a rabbit run across the road about 50 yards ahead, but the dog didn't see it. I let him off his leash, and when we got to where the rabbit had been, my dog went crazy trying to find it. He was sniffing like mad and staying right in the rabbits track, but going the wrong way. My uncle says this is not uncommon on hot tracks. This may mean absolutely nothing, but it does make me very slightly optimistic. I have read some of the training tips on this site and some mention doing drags with a dead coon or a coon skin, and I was wondering if any of y'all would sell me a skin y'all might have? I'll be in Jackson this weekend at my fiance's parents house, and it wouldn't be a problem for me to drive to vicksburg to pick one up. Hope one of y'all can help me out.

LMAO......it was a little after 3 a.m. and everybody was wore out.....i had the cam and was poking fun at them before i snapped the picture.......ole dean new he was happy just needed sombody to remind him of it.............the funny part was when i brought dan in.....i had him muzzled like he was a pitbull yelling yall GET BACK THIS SUCKER IS MEAN AS A SNAKE MOVEEEE MOVEE BACK......poor issiac jumped back like he thought he was gonna get bit..... i think for the next round of pictures we need to have a hair dresser on stand by....we looked kinda bad
i know i hunted 2 full hours and had 2 time outs that was roughly 55 mins each.......first tree 1.1 miles then timeout and back towards the truck....2nd tree 1.3 then timeout and back tot he truck...3rd cut loose dogs was off the camp and in a horse pen 1.1 miles.....so figure that back and forth ..........i had a good reason for looking ruff
