I'm thinking about moving to Iowa for a job how is the coon hunting up there. I'm from ms and just getting back into the hunting and comp hunts. I will be working in Sioux city

Iowa is a great state to coonhunt.I am in Arkansas but grew up in Southern Iowa and miss the hunting there.Winters can be severe especially in the north west part of the state.

shouldnt be a problem finding competetion hunts,Iowa State CHA is a good organization,u will not be that far fom Nebraska and they have some good hunts and great hunting also,remembeer it gets cold up there in the Winter!

I think you will find plenty of places to hunt,just like anywhere you have to get established.

jeeppro- What do you mean that you coon hunt year round in Iowa? Do you run dogs year round or actually hunt year round? I'm a newbie to coon hunting and from what I gather we can only hunt from November to January in Iowa. I'd love to be able to coon hunt year round like most other states.

The kill season runs from november to january, but I run hounds all year. You can run all year as long as you don't have a gun with you.
