I've driven full-size broncos for the last 13 yrs, though usually not on long distance trips. One or two dogs is easy -- varikennels. But I have no use for the rear seat. With that out, my dog box slides right in.
I guess when you show your hounds, you get in the habit of bathing them pretty often. We have a lot of poison oak around here, so we usually bathe after hunting anyhow since the dogs are nearly always out in the yard where they're in constant contact with any human who comes on the property.
I don't know if the Jeeps are narrower across the back than other SUVs, but my box was originally custom built for a Jeep J-10 pickup, so that may be why it fits in my broncos just fine.

I've got a Toyota 4-runner
Just wondering if anybody hunts out of a 4-runner, and what kind of boxes they were using?

I have a 1988 Jeep Cherokee I use. Bought it off Ebay for 300.000 3 years ago. Best money I'd spent in a long time. LOL

Here's my Samurai, I cut it in half and built a flat bed then built the alum. boxes on it, the 1 top box on the left is a built in cooler and the other is a dry storage box. I bear hunt out of it and can haul 8 dogs pretty easy and it gets about 32 mpg. Mike

I used aluminum for the back of the cab area and also made a alum. hard top for it as it used to be a soft top. I need to figure out a way to keep the roof from condesating in the winter as it gets wet enough to drip water from the condensation. Mike

I've got a Jeep Wrangler that I'm going to set up to use for hunting. I'm planning to convert the tailgate from a swing out to a swing down tailgate. My dad does sheetmetal work for a living so he's doing to make me an aluminum dog box.

The guy I hunt with has a Jeep Cherokee and he removed the entire back hatch. He set's the dog box in the back and has a luggage carrier mounted in the trailer hitch to set the dogs on while loading and unloading.
