I have a beat to death '97 toyota with a camper top for a dog box. its 2wd but I'm a public land hunter so thats fine. 206k miles and it still runs like a watch and 24 mpg. bought it used years n years ago for not that much. my only problem is its a regular cab. Get me n a buddy in it and there just is not enough room for all our gear in the front. Most of the time its just me tho so its fine. Time to upgrade this year tho.

I love the smaller trucks such as the Toyota Tacoma but last year I purchased a 2004 Ford Ranger Supercab with 4.0 liter engine, 5 speed manual transmission, 4.10 rear end, 4 wheel drive with 16" wheels. This pickup is heavier made than the Toyota and with the low speed rear end is very powerful. Last February I was hunting lions in the Navajo Nation when the foot of snow in the flats turned to slush and mud in the 40 degree temperatures. I was hunting with a couple of buddies that were driving 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive Chevy pickups. They stuck them over 15 times that afternoon and finally were in a position where neither of them could go anywhere. I drove across country and finally got in front on the one stuck in the lead and was able to jerk him back upon the road and out of the hole he was in as water from the melting snow ran down both ruts.
I have put 40,000 miles on it in a year as it is the vehicle of choice when I am hunting extremely rough and remote areas.
Adios,
Gary

I own a 2012 Tundra. This truck is tough and dependable. I installed a lift kit so that I can run 34" General tires for off-road use.
