i am not sure of the best lure or bait but i have caught them usinc carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, just about anything out of the garden. if you find a den hole, set a cage trap in front of it and use chicken wire or whatever you have available to make something similar to a tunnel from the hole to the trap opening. one end should be attatched to the cage, the other should go over the hole so when he comes out, the only place he has to go is into the cage trap.

I used a #3 soft catch trap an beded it in front of a den hole (blind set), I caught him a couple days later. I used a catch snare to remove him an relocate him. One thing to keep in mind they are very aggressive when trapped an I'd use caution handling them. good luck

if you have a ground hog problem and are trying to get rid of them !!!
(use at your own risk be careful of your own pets)
redneck tip #101 class is now in session take an apple find a syringe tractor supply , old 7 way doesnt have to be clean get some antifreeze inject into apple couple times different areas throw apple down hole . and watch your groundhog problem go away in acouple days !!!!!! most times they die deep in hole and you wont smell them (but not always)

if you are not tring to get rid of them dont use above instructions!!!!!
