I lost 5 live traps in 6 months so I called it quits. The best traps for ditches are the egg traps.

loop them with a catch pole then put a sled over them. Unscrew the top of the trap and push on the location rod and the foot just slips out. Take off the sled and use the pole to dump it into a cage or something.

It will not injure at all. There has been several studies done with different universities using these along with a leg hold trap and the egg traps were determined to be the most humane and did not injure the coon.
