I've have had one heck of a time trying to catch a coon for about 3 weeks now with all the snow and ice we have had. I've caught one opossum. Moved the trap 3 or 4 times and i've seen tracks in the mud by the creek just no luck at all.

Got a simpler suggestion for ya that has been working for me. Find a nearby subdivision or other community with a high concentration of houses. If need be, talk to the owner of the property and offer to live trap coons from the area, and would be happy to set your traps around their trash area. Bait it with a peeled hardboiled egg broken up, thats the cheapest bait there is.

After a couple months of catching possums and no coons during this fall, I finally gave up. Too much time and money going way down to the river everyday. A friend of mine who lives in town wanted to borrow my live-trap to catch a coon who was getting in his trash. Brought me back as many as I wanted....and they were all fat as pigs.

Ya'll killing alot of coons in your area? Leave a couple in the trees when your hunting. The coyotes becoming overpopulated around here has led to them killing A LOT of smaller predators like coons, foxes, bobcats. Kill the Yotes to Save the Coons.

I was tryin everything i could think of for a while..sardines,trout,salmon,cat food, etc...When i got on here and saw that a few of ya'll were using honey buns and twinkies, i thought what the heck i'll give it a try...after a couple days i had two coons and no possums or cats...Gotta love coondawgs.com!!!...I talked my friend into tryin it, cause he catches coon for me as well, and he's brought me a few since he switched to honey buns, thank you seasoned veterans for your advice, yall are a big help to us beginners!!...my Plott pup got bit for the first time the other day by the meanest coon i've seen so far (caught it at a buddies house that was comin on the porch eatin cat food every night) , drove him crazy and he broke one of my traps tryin to get that coon!!!.....KEEP EM TREED!!!
