When the ice sets in good with snare's (under the ice) real cheap , little more work

though, but works great, and our hounds will all be safer cuz of it.

Oh ya !! your not in the south are ya ?

Find their slides into the water and put a conibear in the water just before the ground, block the outsides with some brush or something. Do the same thing with water runways just try and block the outsides of the trap to force them into the trap. Use beaver castor for lure on the bank.

Find their slides and put snares on them. 330 conibears also work but you will have to check your states regs on them. I know here we either have to have them 6 feet above the ground or below water to use them.

I always place a 330 just before the run come out of the water were the hole trap is coverd with water and block the sides in and place a stick just above the trap forceing them to go in to the trap had have really good luck doing this.

find a slide, set the foothold trap right where he would have to step before coming out of the water and have it attached to a drowner, then on the slide make a castor mound

I've got that same problem here in RI and since we aren't allowed to use snares I haven't been able to get a beaver yet. I've seen them swimming, know their slides but can't figure what to do about setting a 330 under the water during our trapping season. The ice is almost always too rotten to go out safely onto. How do you set yours?
