When I sell mine in Arkansas at the fur sale I usually get $4 to $5 for XXXX large and around $3 for average size green skins.

who buys coonskins? i'd like to knock some out this year, but a few bucks here and there is always good to put toward dog food...plus, i don't know anyone who eats coons and i sure hate digging holes for a complete waste of a coon...

i read online somewhere to always collect taken game...so if i could find someone who eats them or buys the hides it would be great...

I averaged $8.95 on 67 hides last season. Top being $22.00. It's enough for me to carry a sharp knife when hunting.

Here is a little word of advice, the southern coons cannot compete with the northern coons. Northern coons usually bring the best prices because of having the best hides. Around here, if you skin one out you will be lucky to get .50 cents out of it. The coons are small and the hides are thin and rough. It is not worth my time to waste on skinning it to the fur buyers standards. If you are around good healthy coons that go for a fair price, you can figure $4.00 for a hide, thats not too bad for 5 minutes work. Better check with your local Wildlife though, a lot of states require fur bearer license to be in possesion of certain amounts and sell the hides, just be aware of what your local law allows.

The coon should start getting a good coat on them when you get to where the winters are good and cold every year and other critters hibernate.
