Well, I bet it would since a coon is about the nosiest creature in the woods. Anything shiny will get their attention.

Back when I used to trap I would wrap it around the pan(trigger) of the trap whenever setting in a creek or shallow water. Makes them think its a fish.

:D :D Another thing you can try is putting a piece of Mirror in the back of your live trap... I know mine love it in their kennel.. at first they growled and carried on at their reflection... but after they realized it was themselves.. they sat for hours and admired themselves..lol.. goofy animals!!

I wouldn't put anything in the trap I didn't expect to get eaten.I learned this lesson the hard way by finding a coon in one of my traps, dead, with half of a chewed up sardine can sticking out of his throat. Now, of course, I don't think aluminum foil is gonna cut a coon's throat and kill him, but it probably won't do him alot of good either.I like food based lure because by the time you get back to the trap, it's all gone and at least the coon had a good meal out of it- and NO mess to clean up.I always just turn the trap up and dump the sardines into the bottom- that way they're behind the pan so he HAS to trigger the trap to get them. And, if I catch the occasional possum or skunk by using sardines, that's just part of the territory-I know how to deal with that, too.
