My uncle and cousin talk about coons ripping apart heavy duty steel traps leaving nothing but blood and fur behind. I on the other hand have never witnessed such and my traps are seemingly lightweight and I've caught some pretty hefty ringtails.. Anybody out there ever been on the receiving end of a shredded cage??

I'd put my money on a bear tearing up big traps. Especially if you're finding blood and fur and a beat up trap.

I've caught a ton of coon, and fishers in cage traps, they'll do some damage, but never had one destroy a trap. I've had bears stomp them pretty good, if they can't get the bait they'll flatten em.
