I have a live trap set to catch a coon to work my young walker on the other night. Checked it yesterday went a week dry and then caught a skunk. That has to be the worse thing to have to release. I proped the door open with a stick, I hope he is gone by today.

best way to do that is to throw a hook on it and take it to some water and drown the skunk

what are you using for bait? I know fish, sardines, tuna can catch coon faster than other baits, but you have the problem of unwanted guests, try a snickers bar or some marshmellows. alot of times I will hang a shiny tincan lid in back of trap to catch the moonlight and the attention of the curious coon as the sweet baits don't have the strong aroma of the fishy baits. I have tried peanutbutter an jelly also but it also catches trash game. an old timer once told me he used the big marbles to catch coon, i never tried that one. good luck

i believe if you can get your live trap a couple of feet off the ground your less likely to catch a skunk

Use nutty bar's it the best bait to catch coon's, I set my live trap 17 night's and caught 16 coon's no lie and I dont recall ever catching anything else on them.
