i was able to build this thing in a couple of my off days and spent 26 BUCKS! i had most of what i needed already b/c anytime i have lumber left over from a project i keep it. it's not quite as good looking as TC's but it's the same pen. TC, thanks alot for all your advice on the board and through pm's. your kennels are easy to build and should last a long time. im using this one for a feist and her pup. instead of building 2 more, im gonna build 1 and make it double(8x8) for 2 english hounds. the house on the one i built is 39W x 36L and has a big door on it. i'll use this pen as a brood pen when i make a breeding.

you wont regret it at all. they're so easy to keep clean and the dogs are just so much better off in the long run.

Just a question; what are the benefits to building off ground kennel other than clean up? I'll be building some new kennel myself next weekend and I want to do whats best for my dogs. Thanks.

besides the clean up making it easier on you,you can move them too, which is kinda nice.i like mine set apart and not sharing a common fence between two dogs like most people build their kennels. helps keep pups and dogs from ever starting the face barking through the fence and other behavior problems i have seen with dogs when face to face 24/7 with just a fence between them..
the dogs stay dry. they dont walk on the wet/muddy cement/ground and track it back into their houses. same for the waste. they stay healthier because they dont walk in the waste causing them to get worms and parisites dogs absorb through the pads of their feet.check out the site article off the home page under hounds and hunting articles. materials list and general directions tips for building them.
