The spacing is roughly 1 1/2 inches or the width of one of the pieces.

yep, the true size of a 2 x 4 is about 1 1/2 by 3 1/2. i lay the floor rails down about 10 at a time, pull them tight, nail or screw the last one to keep them tight. then every other one. then i pull the ones i did not nail and i have the gap between the ones i did nail or screw down.i also drill pilot holes in each end of the "2 x 2" so they dont split when i screw the deck screws or #16 sinker nails in to hold them.you want your floor rails rock solid.no roll or wobble.

tricolor has got it down pat.

I built them on the ground. I designed them so if I have to relocate them I can just unscrew the roof assembly and 4 guys can pick up the rest. they are also just big enough to fit on my buddy's low boy trailer to be transported wherever i have to take them

yes, when i'm home they are out on 100 ft runs. but the size i built them 8 x 16 is about the size of a 10 x 10 kennel. plenty of room but it keeps them in the shade and much much cleaner i've noticed that since they have been above ground.

I noticed the dogs eyes are not matted as much anymore and they smell alot better. I have been hunting mine 4 nights a week so i dont really have to worry about putting mine out on a chain for a little while each day but i built mine 6ft wide 4ft tall and 10ft long with a 3 ft dog box on the end so its plenty big enough anyway. For me its gonna work great for a temporary kennel until i get my concrete dog kennel built (10 yards of concrete is expensive). So till then this set up is nice to have. Plus it will make a great brood pin just have to make some modifications to the floor so the pups dont fall through and get there legs stuck.

I just completed my two new kennels. they are TC inspired designs. I made them 8x16 feet. I had to add some extra bracing but it's the same idea. I framed in dog houses in the corners. I insulated them with r-30 in the walls and two layers of celotex underneath. I then put green metal roofs on them so they would match my other buildings. I also incorporated the patent pending (ha Ha) stool catching system underneath. The droppings and urine drain into a gutter and then a catch basin that is emptied weekly. i hose down the stool ramp daily. great system no stink. i sprinkle lime around the edges on the ground to help with the urine. i put a horse mat in the corner of each one so the dogs can just lay out if desired.. I have about $700 invested in each one. All pressure treated lumber for the framing and trim. TC is a genius...... I'll never use anything else....

I like this kennel and will try to build two for brood pens. Can you send me the exact details on it. If you need to send it on my email, that's fine.
