Cedar in the hot months and straw in the cold months. The dogs seem to like that method and so do I! They love to curl up in the straw when its cold out and the cedar makes them smell good and keeps fleas out.

The best bedding for adult dogs is a good eatting hay...Ive found that straw can have mites in iT. Plus Fleas like its also..Unlike Hay.......I will still use straw...Only If I have no choice..Hay around here is real hard to find right now.Unless you want to pay $8.00 a bale. Its usually $3-4.00..A round bale of grass hay is selling for $100 a 1000 pound roll........Last year you could buy a grass roll for $25-35.00..A good eatting hay is $150-200 a roll.......

Is that plain grass and fesiucue or is that clover, timiothy,or Alfa.

i have discovered one thing about training dogs... to begin with you have to be smarter than the dog...now if it turns out that the dog is smarter than you trade him in on one that is a little dumber ! ...... come on sunset !

Last year I used brome (sp?) for the first time and like it alot seems to keep the dogs rather warm. I have straw currently cause it was getting cold and couldnt get the brome. When they get some in thats what I will be going back to though.

summer months I use pine and oak shavings from were my brother does trim and doors havn't had any problems

The only time I use hay is if I dont have straw. Straw is just as
warm as any hay. It will absorb 4 times more water or moisture
than any hay. Straw is a lot softer then hay. But it is your dogs
use what you want to use. Lonnie Woodcox

I used straw years ago but he seems to like the cedar filled fluffy pillow I bought for him.

My family used dense foam pool floats. Cut them to size. They repeled water and smell pretty good and were easy to clean. Added a old trift store blanket when the temp drops. The cost is low and can be used for a long time. The dust, allergies, fleas and ticks were minimal.
