Alright I got 2 cur pups about 6 months old now and they are in an 11x6 ft cage and they are finding ways to get out... What is a good way to keep them in? Are the shocking collars and all that stuff bad for them?? What is a good way to keep them in there???? In desperate need of help!

I had a problem with an older female that I had kept getting out. I put a chain on the dog house inside of the kennel and attached her to it.

Your lucky that dog didnt hang herself!!! I saw that happen once when my dad raised Blueticks!! Either Tie her up outside the kennel.. or raise the height of your kennel.... or... what i did for my diggers.... is.... run electric fence around the inside of the kennel about 6 inches off the ground.. didnt have any problems with it after that.

Well his 6 month old pups I'm sure won't be getting over the top of any kennel. I have a roof on my kennels so I don't have a problem with them hanging.

i have three dogs. one is an escape artist. she was the first dog ever to scale the fence at a licensed dog kennel. if i leave her in the yard longer than she wants to be out she'll come to the door and let me know she wants in. if i take too long, she'll dig out and be at the front door wanting in. she doesn't run off, she just wants to be with me. i respect a dog smart enough to see the possibilities and now be content with settleing.

in my opinion... the best thing to do for escapers AND females is to build a completely enclosed kennel off of the ground... nothing too big and fancy, but just enough. put 6. 8 ft treated 4x4's in the ground. 3ft between the first 2 and 5ft between the second and third one (long ways). your dog box can be built between the 3ft section and the run will be the 5ft section. build a frame with 2x4's and aluminum or plywood for the box. use chain link for the fencing. you can use shingles, aluminum, or even chain link for the roof. my neighbor has one of these built for his female. it is impossible for her to escape, its off the ground, and its impossible for a male dog to get in when she comes in heat... during the day, he ties her on a chain on the clothes line so she can exercise. if you got the money to do it, this is the best kind of pen for an escaper!

Susie is right don't tie the dog inside the kennel unless the chain is short enough that it can't reach any of the sides.I have seen this happen before.

I tied mine up to a chain on the outside of the kennel. So if he does decide to jump it(which he has...7 ft. fence  ) he won't hang himself but he's still in the yard. But he's mainly a digger and i don't care if he tears up that part of the yard anyhow. lol
