i am looking at reworking my kennels since tax money is close to being here and i was thinking about putting a wood floor in, 2x8 raised off of the ground a little i was thinking that it would help with the dogs getting wormy and it will make it easier to put the roof over i think that it would be cheaper than concrete and i know it would be better on their feet in the winter any ideas good or bad has anybody done this before

Wood floor is ok for dogs , nothing wrong with it just make sure you het pressure treated . Hose it off every couple days to clean it or you couls do like my buddy did , he sloped the floor to the center just a tad so when he washed it the poop goes down a drain pipe into a colection basin under ground

I have 6 concrete pens and 3 wooden pens. There is good and bad to both. Good thing about concrete is it will never rot, its easy to clean and it helps to keep toe nails wore down. Concrete is hard on a dog over time causeing aurthitus and is just plain cold in the winter. Plus if you move, guess what you ain't takein with you. Wood ain't the easiest to clean but its not too bad. Its not as cold in the winter and is not gonna hurt them over a long period of time. They can chew wood up, if they chew up your concrete..shoot em...LOL. Wood aint gonna last for ever, a roof will help some but it is still gonna get wet. And if you use screws instead of nails it is simple to take apart and take if you move. I think that both are better than being on the ground. Im not knockin folks that tie out hounds. Aroud here dirt turns to mud and I dont want to stand bare foot in the mud all day, I ain't makin my dogs. After typing all this crap.....Yes, wood floors are fine.

I was going to say use at least 4, because of frost heaves cracking the concrete, but I seriously doubt you'd have that problem. Short of that, I have no idea.

call a gravel pit and get a price on lime, it packs as hard as concret and is a lot cheaper. all was make your floor bigger than the kennel. a roof is nice for shade and all that
