Already have a 8x24 slab and some 2x4 welded wire and plenty of 2x4s just really wondering how long it'll last and if I would be better off to buy some 6' chain link ? And any suggestions or pics would help

Chain link is ok for short periods, it tends to stretch over time. Also I have a very large Walker male about 95lbs, who ripped the chain link from the support bars with his teeth when he saw the caged coon I was unloading from the back of my truck. I am in the process of buying new welded wire pens from the Tractor supply but they are a bit pricey. I thought of making pens out of hog paneling but i like the premade pens because of easy set up and take down.

welded wire kennels. We built these a couple years ago and they work great! Built heavy and will last forever building another set of four this winter will be 12 that we have built in all!

What gauge wire did you use on those kennels.

2x4 panels work good but the cheap 2x4 welded wire would tear up pretty easy I would think.

The framing is just 1 1/2 square tube. The wire panels came from tractor supply. I believe it is 3/16 inch wire.

Our welded wire pens only lasted three years and that is with them being patched up all the time.. Our hounds are larger and the wire kept breaking. The 2x4 panels will last for a long time though. They will cost more, but if keeping your hounds at home means something to you the extra cost is worth it.

I have never had a problem with concrete bothering their feet. Also if your kennels are cleaned out dailey having concrete ruduces parasites. It is a much cleaner environment for them.
