Ok. I really need some ideas. I am planning on making a 2 dog kennel. I am planning on only having one dog, but if I find a really nice pair.

I am planning on using 6 foot high chainlink fencing. I am planning on covering it, as to provide shade, and to help keep them in. I am not going to have a cement floor, because I am on a tight budget, but will have just soil. I don't want my dog(s) digging under the fence and getting out, so how do I prevent this?

Also, does anyone have plans or blueprints on making a doghouse? Also what wood is good for this?

Would sawdust, hay, wood chips, or cloth be best for a bedding?

I think this is about all. My mama doesn't know it yet, but I am hoping to keep my dog inside at night, but I am not gonna make him a house dog. Just want him to sleep inside, because I have some WEIRD neighbors. There is definitely gonna be a lock on this kennel.

Thanks for all you guys help!
Rick

you can run a piece of top railing along the ground between the posts to keep the dogs from digging out... dont use hay for bedding it causes mange... best to use cedar chips in all conditions till cold weather then swap to wheat straw for bedding.... if your gonna have dirt floors then coat the groung about 0nce a month with borax it'll keep the worm population down... and best to use plastic 55 gal drums for housing, quick and easy to build and keep sanitary... if you'd like i can post pics of all this.

Thanks for responding guys. I haven't been on in awhile, because I am helping get ready for a wedding. I have been doing some more research, and I found a great kennel plan, that keeps the dog off the ground. The positives out weigh the negatives, so I will probably go that route.
Thanks,
Rick

I am buying a store bought kennel, and making a dog house, but on the bottom i am going to make a frame on posts and put water proof plywood over it, with slits to let the urine slip to the ground. It's not really a building plan, but I am going to do it in the spring, and will post pictures.
