Ive heard some old timers talk about coating their kennel floors in oil to keep waste from sticking to wood and keeping down on insects (bore bees, and termites) anyone ever heard of this?

We used burnt oil and diesel fuel originally to seal the whole kennel. We just mixed it in a garden sprayer and sprayed it on. It smells strong for a fews days but settled down.

Used motor oil on wood is a good way to kill any little critters that would thrive in it.

When I got mites in my horse barn, everything got a coat from a cheap air paint gun hooked to my air compressor. Kind of made a mess but didn't take long to soak in and that way it got in all of the nooks and crannies in the wood and joints.
