I finally bought the ten gauge at a local gun shop. It has been there for a while and i drooled every time I saw it so finally i couldnt take it so I bought it. I paid $450 for it, its a browning bps. I was wondering whats the max range that you 10 gaugers can get out of your guns for turkey? My dad had a pride of spain 10 ga. double barrel that he folded a bird at 80 yards with.

My longest shot with my H&R is 53 yards. Hope this helps.

You should set up some old 4'X4' boards and get some paper to staple onto them and set them out at 40 yds, 60 yds and on out to 100yds. Take shots at each one and see what the patterns look like with each load you use. Your farthest out test papers may only get some wide pellet patterns. That would be the cripple range. Best strategy is to see how close you can get to make your shot. Don't let a 10 ga. stand in for lack of confidence getting close. I have seen some who take shots at high flying geese thinking their 10 ga. has more range than it really does. Learn the working limits of whatever you hunt with and then you'll do best. My hats off to anyone who wants to shoot 10 ga. Especially mag loads. Of course with turkey hunting you aren't rapping off shot after shot like yo do for ducks and geese.
