I was wondering if a trigger job to lighten the pull can be done on a Remington 742 30-06 ? I know they can be done on bolt actions.

of course it can. remington might not like it though. Gun companies are getting very touchy about lightening triggers, thanks to liability. A well done trigger job is totally safe though.

They have 2 or 3 gunsmiths at Gander Mountain and he said no on a trigger job on it but one of the others there said yes, i don"t believe i want one of them doing it ! Who do you trust to do it right were it would be safe ?

I had buddy of mine that has a gun shop about 9 miles east of me do a trigger job on it and he did a really good job, it has a 3 pound pull, he said a 3 pound is about what most of his customers what in a hunting rifle ! He did not what to do it in the beginning but told me to let him see what he could do with it, it is perfect just like the trigger job he did on my two bolt actions !

I developed a cure for all of the challenges with these triggers over thirty years ago. I can eliminate the take up travel, the roughness, the creep and the overtravel. I can make it break at any weight you want down to three pounds. These triggers are a very good design that just was not finished by Remington. I won't take them lower than that on pull weight. If you have any questions or if I can help call me at 541 570 0955 out here in Oregonn or send me an e-mail to carter@barsnake.com
