i have wondered about coon hunting with a pistol for a long time now but have been very hesitant.i recently bought a camo smith and wesseon semi auto 22lr and i would recomend this gun to anyone who is interested in hunting with a pistol.ups-very affordable, smooth,no recoil, very very accurate even for those that are not great with a pistol(me being 1)down.noisy.the only bad thing is it is a liitle noisy.im already in love with this gun.$240 brand new

i know nothing about the smith and wessons but i traded up a 6 inch 22 revolver. extremely accurate i have taken a few coon a few possum and several squirrel with. it is addicting once you hunt once with a handgun you will keep tryin to find other things to hunt with it. i constantly use my hand gun to try to take any legal small game i can think of.
