I would shoot a 130 grain bullet in the fields and 150 grain in the timber, i like the 150 because they drive a lot deeper and made to hold together on the animal ! I shoot the Federal Premium 150 Nosler Partition most of the time for all my hunting and it is Very Deadly, but expensive ! If i were going to hunt in the fields most of the time i would shoot the Federal Premium 130 grain Sierra Boat Tail bullet , it is very accurate ! I have shot and still do my .270 for about 40 years so i know a little about the gun.

All I use for elk and deer is 130 gr core-loks. But i like a faster bullet out here in eastern montana for the goats! Its not the bullet that kills though, its the shot placement!!
