if you want to make one extra acurate first change the hammer and sear out for ones from VQ or get a kidd trigger the hammer and sear from vq will drop the trigger pull down to around 2lbs a kidd two stage will give you adjustable settings from 6oz to 2 pounds, ruger triggers are horrible from the factory, next comes bedding with a stock and a barrel. then take as many different types of ammo that you can find and shoot them to find what the rifle shoots best with. you can always get the bolt face trued and polished. here is the latest rifle I built up, it is light enough to carry through the woods hunting squirrel and the target should speak for itself shot from 30 yds.

Good guns, but for long-range accuracy I'd pick a Marlin model 60 over a 10/22...the Marlin will outshoot it every time right out of the box. However, if you want to put some money into the Ruger you can drive nails with them with the right ammo.

I've had my 10/22 since around 1990. My original 10 shot clip is starting to hang up a little, but it still shoots straight. It's still my favorite gun that I own. It don't look as good as it used to, but it's made for shooting not looking at.

Mine has a VQ trigger, M.R. carbon fiber barrel with a bentz chamber. The stock is a B.C. with palm swell and built in bi-pod. extended mag release. Topped with a K4 scope. Mine will shoot Win. Super X's great but no stingers because of the chamber. It's nice and light and shoots great!
But out of the box my Marlin 60 shot better......

IrishCreekHounds wrote: What is the best scope to put on a Ruger 10/22 There is no "best scope" what I like and the next guy likes can be two different scopes. I like 4x scopes on .22's, 3x9 is kinda over kill to me. But, they are nice on a .22 for "long range". I shoot an old school K4 on my 10/22 its clear as a bell, but the Marlin has a 3x9 Bushnell that I like well too. I realy like Swift scopes I thing they are the best bang for the buck, I have had few over the years. It all boils down to what you want to spend and its use.
