Does anyone know the laws about hunting with a pistol in WEST VIRGINIA?? Im 19 and want to use a pistol to carry while im coonhunting. I know you have to be 21 to carry one concealed. Does this apply to coonhunting as well??

Don't know about WV, but in bama you have to be 21 to get a permit to carry one off private property. Not saying you can't hunt with one but you cant carry it to the place you are hunting without being in violation. If you had someone with a permit to take it with you they could give it to you once you turned out and no one could say anything to you. Hope this helps.

As Cibabo posted, you have to be 21.
This is because you have to be 21 to buy, own, or possess a pistol or pistol ammunition.

I remember in the late 80's or early 90's some local stores in Montgomery and Smithers quit selling 22 LR ammo to me because I was not 21.

I was like "Why, you have been selling me 22 ammo since I was 14 or 15 along with shotgun ammo".
They said, "They have been getting strict who we sell ammo to. You must be 18 for rifle and shotgun and 21 for pistol. 22 ammo is considered pistol ammo".

I was fuming mad. A few months later one slacked off and let me buy 22 ammo.
