If you got the money go with the 10/22. Between the excelent durability and all of the after market pars you cant go wrong. I have a 795 marlin .22 . Nice light little .22 and accurate. its also a little lighter bill too. Mine when i got somthing didnt match up quite right so i stuffed a little peice of metal in between the stock and the trigger part now it works perfect.

i have discovered one thing about training dogs... to begin with you have to be smarter than the dog...now if it turns out that the dog is smarter than you trade him in on one that is a little dumber ! ...... come on sunset !

I'm assuming you are talking about the Marlin model 60 tube-fed .22lr? It is going to shoot more accurately than the Ruger 10/22 out of the box. Every Marlin model 60 I've seen can outshoot a Ruger 10/22, and if it won't it's either the person shooting it or it's defective. The Ruger is an ok gun, but I don't care too much for the 10/22 because they are more or less "tweaker" guns now, meaning people buy them new then put hundreds of dollars of mods in/on them then they shoot like a target rifle.

I have a Marlin 795 and like it better than the 10/22 I had. The marlin is a lot lighter and seems to be just as accurate.

I have a few .22s, I use my "tweaker" 10/22 I like it the best, its more accurate, and yes I have a lot of money in it. Out of the box my Marlin 60 would out shoot the 10/22..... and you can buy them used for under a hundred bucks. The only time the 60 gave me a fit is when it was super dirty, it will shoot any ammo. The 10/22 only will shoot and cycle Winchester Super X and has to be clean. If I had to pick one it would be the Marlin 60.

I had some kind special edition type of model 60, it had gold emblem on the stock that had something ti do with hunters safety and had gold trigger. Had it for years shot great. My neighbor kid left it on the truck hood I pulled out it rode for bout a mile and half down the road, slid off busted into a million pieces. Then bought a used marlin clip fed with synthetic stock that looked like new it shoots really good also. For the money you can't beat a marlin 22 accurate, tough, and just a good all around rifle.
