my choke tube is stuck. it used to be loose and i was always checking it to make sure it was hand tight. i wanted to take the fs out and put the ic in and found it stuck. i put a leather wrap on it and tried using vice-grip pliers but that didn't work. i put some penetrating oil on it and so far that doens't seem to help. they have really fine threads. i suspect i might have to use heat on it. do you have any ideas?

Don't use heat on the barrel. As Frog said it will ruin the barrel. No heat that's hotter than a hair blow dryer should ever be used on hardened metal gun parts. Get you a can of a penetrating oil called KROIL. Take a small empty coffee can and fill it to where the whole length of the choke in the barrel will be submerged in it. Stick the choke end of the barrel down in the coffee can with KROIL in it and set it in a corner to soak for a day or two. After a day or so the choke will unscrew without any damage to the barrel or choke. It works. That KROIL is some good stuff. If you can't find any KROIL locally to buy, you can order it from Brownells. All gunsmiths keep KROIL, it's a life saver for a lot of jobs. You might want to put a little anti-seize on the chokes before you start using them. For me, this reason right here is why I will not own a shotgun with screw in choke tubes. They stick or they shoot loose after 3 or 4 shots. I buy the different fixed choke barrels and change them out to fit the kind of hunting I plan on doing. Good luck.

NO HEAT! You will destroy the temper in zero seconds As they said, use KROIL, failing that , good ol WD-40. Just make sure you clean it up good afterwards. Let it set for a good while, afew hours if need be. If you don't have anti-seize, use a good gun grease, any brand will do and always remove and give it a good wipe after you are done shooting. Most of the time it is built up gunk that causes them to seize up.
