I had recently bought a savage 22-250 and it is a blued barrell. My problem is that I have kept it oiled but it is still rusting in my house. Is there anything I can do like paint it? It is a $700 gun and I cant have it getting rusted.

A lot of duck hunters are painting the exposed surfaces of their scatterguns to prevent wear and rust from the nasty elements. Getting your gun dipped is another option for less than $200. I've never really known a fairly new and well oiled gun to rust indoors? What brand/model rifle is it?

What brand of oil are you using? Where exactly is it rusting? Are you storing it in a very moist environment? You could have it parkerized, but still, this could be a symptom of something else. You could try a product brom Birchwood Casey called Barricade. That might help.

where are they stored. It sounds like you have a moisture problem.

if you keep your gun in a safe you can get powerless dehumidifiers. they will prevent your gun from rusting. you just plug it in, let the crystals dry, unplug it and sit it in your safe. works great
