Not a bad choice :D :D :D But that isn't what I was looking for, This was a wild cat cartrige and The 30-06 was the rifle that actually stoped it from becoming a production Rifle.

I haven't the slightest idea, but Springfield's first rifles for Uncle Sam were the 1903A1, which came out in 1903 and was a .30-06 caliber, so the .30-06 was never actually introduced in 1906. See Sarge you just asked the wrong question for me.

It was derived from the 400 H&H necked down to a 30 cal.

OK you got me there. I have no idea. Then again, I have no idea why anyone would try to neck down a .400 H&H to .30.
