i was wondering about the 770 remington in 7mm-08 ....ive heard mixed stuff about them some people love them and others hate them...i dunno if its a gun you'd have to shoot a couple of times to get to like it and people just take a look at it on the shelf and make an intsant judgement or if they just had a bad one from the factory or bought it used and buddy didnt take to good of care of it before him....i like the feel of the one i was messing around with at the local gun shop.
if you like the .270, you'll like the 7mm-08. Basically they took a .308 case and necked it down to .284 to accept the 7mm slug. You can think of it as a short action .270 as it is similar to the .270 being a little bit slower than the .270. The 120 grain bullet is good for antelope and the like and the 140 is fine for deer. I wouldn't go much bigger than that. Of all the new calibers they are bringing out in the last few years, this one is one of the better ones.

I have 2 7mm-08's. A remington model 7 stainless and a very pretty Browning A-Bolt Micro. The Browning is almost to pretty to hunt with. The model 7 is a killing machine - small frame, lightweight, perfect fit, excellent caliber. I tend to use the model 7 in tight, swampy area type hunting, but would feel comfortable reachin' on out there with it if the opportunity ever presented itself.
It is my humble opinion that the 7mm-08 is an excellent medium game caliber. i have shot many whitetails, 1 mule deer (@275yds), a medium size NC black bear, 1 Pronghorn (@300yds) out West, 3 NC coyotes, and 1 very irritated SC boar.
....it is still a tie between my old Browning BBR 270Win or my old Rem 700 BDL 25-06 for my all time true favorite weapons of death in the woods.
lol what did the yotes look like after they took a thump from your 7mm-08?
much left of them lol. from what ive been told there wouldnt be that much left of them other then a puddle of blood.
i can almost garunntee that with groundhogs lol but im a bit skeptical about that on a yote.....maybe its cuz we've got some of the big yotes round.
