I just ordered the 6.5in model to pick up when I return from my deployment. I was wondering if anyone has one or has shot one and what there opinion was. I am going to be stationed in Alaska and my thought was if Im going to be fishing with the big bears, Id better carry a big gun lol

I was trying to decide between the 454 the 460 and the 500 and a 44 mag but I chose the 500 because If i actually end up needing it some time I dont want to find out the hard way the others didnt have the smackdown i needed, Im not saying the 500 will just do the job on a grizzly im just thinking loaded with the 700 grain bullets ill feel more comfortable waist deep in bear country.

I shot my buddies and yea they do have a lot more recoil than a 44 mag but I'd deff want the baddest pistol up there too I think you made a good choice

I just held a S&W 500 at the buckmasters expo this weekend. That thing is a monster. Im not a little dude by any meaning of the word an that thing was intimidating just to hold. Anyone one who can wield that thing and fire more than one accurate shot would impress me.
